The school replaced the outdated cage system in the changing rooms and switched to lockers supplied by our company. On this occasion, I had the opportunity to speak with the school principal, Mgr. Lenka Hladíková, to ask me a few questions:
We will be happy to advise you on a suitable solution
How did it all start?
"We agreed with the founder, which is the municipality, that it would probably be a good idea to start reconstructing a bit because the old cage system of changing rooms that we have been using has not been suitable for a long time. We started the reconstruction of the changing rooms and the corridor on the ground floor to the first floor."
How did you get in touch with Alfa 3 s.r.o.?
"The mayor approached the teacher of the School of Applied Arts in Hradec Králové, Mr. Luděk Jekl, who is originally from near Jeníkov and graduated from our primary school many years ago, to prepare a design for new changing rooms. He prepared the design and then recommended your company.
He advised us to go with the mayor to your place in Luže, and we agreed on the delivery terms. Mr. Jekl calculated that all 150 lockers would fit in the locker room, which is the maximum capacity of our school. Your colleagues in Luže then gave us some practical advice on the design, such as the sloping roof. At first, we did not like it, but now in retrospect, we must admit that it is practical. If the locker roof was flat, the children would throw things in there, and there would be a mess that would fall behind the lockers. So, it has its practical importance."
Did you take advice on the layout of the cabinets, or did you have an idea beforehand?
"We had an idea from the project. We stuck to it. The project was also important because we were redoing the lights in the closet so that the lights would come out properly in the space between the lockers."
When did the actual implementation take place?
"At the beginning of the holiday season, the ground floor renovations started first. First, demolition work, new plastering, new wiring, and lighting were done. The actual installation of the cloakroom took place in the second half of August. At the beginning of September, everything was ready for the new school year."
Can you feel the difference between cage closets and lockers?
"We've gone from the old cage type of locker room where we always looked for things. You know the pupils- someone kicks off their shoes, and the shoe is no longer in the first-class compartment; it's in the eighth-class compartment. We were always looking for something. It was just chaos. Warm-ups and gloves were still lying around in May, and nobody owned them. There were various hooks that the pupils were hanging themselves on; it was dangerous. The passageway through the locker room looked messy. It's beautifully clean now. Each pupil has their own space to store things. So, we were worried about pupils losing their locker keys, but fortunately, that didn't happen."
Will you continue with the renovations?
"We plan to put in order at least the corridors on the first floor, which need renovation."
Thank you for the interview and I wish you every success.
